Ticket reps for Brooklyn’s answer to Madison Square Garden told Brooklyn Weekly that the eight-time Grammy winning superstar and Erasmus HS graduate will play a homecoming concert at the arena this fall shortly after Jay-Z opens the place with several shows beginning on Sept. 28. Handlers for the showbiz goddess wouldn’t confirm she’s on her way, and Barclays officials won’t say if the show has been booked, but Councilwoman Letitia James (D–Fort Greene) claims the star is coming. “Barbra Streisand has a couple of days [at the arena],” the politician said at a recent meeting, according to the blog Atlantic Yards Report. Brooklyn’s Babs boosters were happy to hear the Streisand-related news just weeks after her half-sister Roslyn Kind — an accomplished singer and Brooklyn native in her own right — played in Flatbush.

Following his own rumor last week , plus a subsequent advance by The Brooklyn Paper , journalist Norman Oder combed theTicketmaster site and got definitive proof that Ms. Streisand, a Brooklyn native, will perform at the arena near the corner of Atlantic and Flatbush Avenues. No date is set yet.

And here's what the guy who started that rumor on that website had to say: "For the record, what I reported last week was not quite a rumor. I reported on a public statement by Council Member Letitia James (which she wouldn’t elaborate on), then confirmed it with two not-for-attribution sources. No, I didn’t get a confirmation or even a response after I queried Streisand’s spokesman, but I was confident it was more than a rumor. — Norman Oder "
